Har-Tru Clay Courts
Har-Tru surfacing is the most popular
material for clay courts in the United States. Made from billion-year-old
pre-Cambrian metabasalt found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
Har-Tru courts are made from rock which has been crushed, screened
and mixed in the precise proportions necessary for a stable surface.
Har-Tru surfacing can be used for both new court construction and
as a top dressing for established courts.
Har-Tru courts are traditionally built using 2"
to 3" stone base topped with 1" to 1.5" stone screening
base and finished with 1" of Har-Tru surface. A modified base
may be used for private courts or clubs which do not have heavy
play.
Traditional Base
For multiple courts and
courts with heavy play.
Modified Screening
Base
An alternative base for
all applications,
especially where precise grade control
can be achieved.
